Vasco de Oliveira Janerio

Vasco works at the EIT where he has held several positions including Head of Operations and Coordinator of the 2014 and 2018 Calls for Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs). He is one of the pioneers helping to set-up the EIT and its KICs from 2010 onwards. Previously, he worked in Brussels at the European Commission’s Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (EACI) in the energy field and at the EU’s Research Executive Agency (REA) on space technologies. Prior to joining the Commission in 2007, he worked in Brussels for the European energy sector and in Lisbon at an operations management consultancy advising the Government on major investments (e.g. natural gas network). Overall, Vasco has been involved in the management of European and national projects of over EUR 1 billion. He holds an M.S. in Engineering & Industrial Management (IST), an M.A. in International Politics (ULB) and diplomas on Entrepreneurship & Innovation from the MIT and Stanford University.
